(I am from the USA ,I am not sure if people in other countries in the world take these tests)So, I have been among the chosen 30 in the 8th grade of my school to take the PSAT/NMSQT(tests high school juniors take) before we are supposed to academically. It is basically a talent search like we had last year (took the SAT last year, scored better than 52% of high school seniors, not sure if I should be happy or be sad about the educational system) Passing this test with a 50 or above on one of the sections will allow me to claim the title of South Carolinian Academic Scholar (i think) and have openings for touring colleges, be eligible for scholarships, etc, etc.
Anyway, I opened up the practice booklet to get an idea of what I am going to be seeing on the test.....and my brain exploded.
I decided to start with the Math section, timing myself for 25 minutes with 20 questions. It was a instant "OMGWTFDOIDO?!" moment, but I kept on with the trusty calculator I am allowed to use. Out of the 20, I got 16 correct, with the other 4 being the absolute algebra-hypotnuse-squareroot-pie filed goodness that i instantly go 'heee huhhhh donkey'
, but felt so much better when I saw that the writing and critical reading sections were a breeze, at least for me (I love reading so much!). The date of the actual test taking is in 2 weeks, so here's hoping I can prepare enough for the tests!
